WMG Full Time MSc STUDENT PROJECTS

WMG operates a major FT MSc programme involving more than 600 postgraduate students each year, pursuing one of the following Masters courses.

Cyber Security Management
e-Business Management
Engineering Business Management
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
International Technology Management
Management of Business Excellence
Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Process Business management
Programme & Project Management
Service Management and Design
Supply Chain & Logistics Management

The programme for each of the above courses is based on a modular system, to which course modules and the associated course assignments constitute 50% of the overall assessment and a major research project makes up the remaining 50%.

Students are expected to devote approximately 900 hours (24 wks) of their time and intellectual effort to the project. The project is completed and submitted in the form of a dissertation.

As the project represents a large amount of effort on behalf of the student it is a significant undertaking.  Each year, a body of able and high calibre students seek to undertake industrial projects that would enable them the opportunity to apply the learning and knowledge they gain from their MSc course to study real industrial matters or problems with the aim of bringing about solutions or a better understanding.

Therefore, WMG would welcome suitable project ideas from organizations for our MSc students to undertake as part of their MSc studies. These proposed ideas will then be considered by WMG in conjunction with the proposing organization to ensure their academic appropriateness while at the same time addressing the organization’s expectations.

In view of the many different MSc courses we run as listed above, the project ideas would be wide ranging and could involve many different aspects such as operational (e.g. logistics, supply chain management, material/production control, distribution, warehousing, transport, etc.) financial, human resource, technical or strategic management, or other issues.

Potential benefits these projects to organizations:

We believe there will be significant benefits to the organizations if projects are well thought out and effectively managed. These can be one or more of the followings:

• Problems experienced, but has no time and resources to investigate and solve
• Improve understanding of technology/business issues
• Exposure to latest practices and concepts that organizations are not necessarily up to date with
• Contributing to organization’s on-going research programmes 
• No costs in cash terms other than possibly meeting travel and subsistence expenses incurred by the student
