Monday 21st of October 2019 08:42 AM

The wellness event of the year arrives at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry this week with a host of inspirational speakers and health-related activities.

The Being Well Festival, which is free to attend, will be promoting happier, healthier lives by educating visitors about their health and general wellness between 11am and 4pm on Thursday (October 24).

Alongside the main event is a sold-out VIP celebrity lunch which includes a menu designed by Masterchef 2016 winner Jane Devonshire, who will also be talking about her television experience and her recovery from breast cancer.

The lunch will also include a live Q&A with television presenter Simon Thomas alongside You, Me & The Big C podcast’s Lauren Mahon and Steve Bland.

BBC presenters Mary Rhodes and Eleanor Oldroyd will be hosting the lunch which will open with a blessing and procession led by Buddhist monks and nuns.

Internationally-renowned Pop Chorus will be performing a flash mob as well as hosting workshops to give people a taste of the positive effects of singing in a group.

The Being Well Festival will give visitors the opportunity to shop at a ‘wellbeing marketplace’, take part in activities and taster sessions and receive one-to-one advice on health and wellbeing.

There will be healthy food giveaways, the chance to sit in a massage chair which eases aching joints and advice on diet and exercise and a six-week mindfulness programme from a stand hosted by the UK’s largest independent IT company, Birmingham-based SCC, and The Healthy Employee Ltd.

Innovative haircare technology that is helping people suffering from medical hair loss to regain their confidence will be highlighted by models from Racoon International in a catwalk show.

Instructors from Physiyolates, which uses psychological research combined with elite-level physical training to help people achieve physical and mental strength, will also be showcasing their methods.

All monies raised from the festival will go towards the regional centre of Breast Cancer Haven in Solihull which provides emotional, physical and practical support for anyone affected by breast cancer including one-to-one therapy and counselling for family and friends.
