Free careers advice for people who have been made redundant, furloughed or are unemployed is available at Coventry’s leading further education provider.
Coventry College has launched Careers Clinics after working closely with the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) and the Association of Colleges (AoC).
The sessions are taking place every Monday between 1pm-3pm at both its campuses at Swanswell Street in Coventry city centre and Henley Road in Henley.
Emma Ingram, Head of Employer Engagement & Sales at Coventry College which delivers hundreds of courses to more than 8,000 students every year, said experts will be available to give advice, guidance or discuss courses to help people with their careers.
She said: “We know that this is a really uncertain time for many people, with job security being a constant concern as more and more businesses in all sectors have had to make tough decisions due to Covid-19.
“It may be the first time for many years that people have found themselves in this situation and they are uncertain what to do next.
“That could be in terms of writing a CV, where to look for a job which suits their skills set or expanding their skills by signing up for a course – or they may decide this is the time to completely change direction in their career.
“The drop-in advice sessions are aimed at developing opportunities for those people that have recently been furloughed or find themselves unemployed so that we can help improve their work-based skills.
“Our professional advisors are available to help people find the right path towards getting back into work.
“That could be entering into an apprenticeship, finding the right professional course or studying at university and we’re here to get people started because there are really good opportunities available.
“We have vast experience in careers advice and these Careers Clinics are free and will be one-on-one in a friendly environment, so there’s no need for anyone to feel apprehensive about seeking help.”
