Independent review for the UK offshore wind supply chain

Thursday 25th of October 2018 11:11 AM

The Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) is conducting an Independent Review of the opportunities and barriers for the UK offshore wind supply chain.

The UK currently leads the world in the deployment of offshore wind. Through the proposed Sector Deal and government commitment to offshore wind, we are seeking opportunities to develop the UK supply chain and increase UK content.

In July 2018, The Rt Hon Claire Perry MP. Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth set out a pipeline of auctions to deliver 30GW of offshore wind by 2030, with an auction every two years.  With a committed pipeline, the Government is now looking to the offshore wind sector to continue to reduce costs whilst growing the UK supply chain.

We are supporting a greater commitment to double the annual UK supply chain share of UK projects from £2bn to over £4bn in 2030. Businesses are being invited to consider the opportunities for your company within this growing offshore wind market.  It is hoped the information in this document will inspire you to identify further prospects to invest in the UK supply chain. There are a series of roadshows throughout October/November 2018 to showcase the opportunities in the sector for UK companies to engage with companies who have an interest in joining the sector, as well as those already established in the supply chain.

Further information on the Supply Chain Roadshows including the dates and locations are available on the ORE Catapult website:
