Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) is seeking to appoint consultants to help manage the recruitment of a Chair. This is a key strategic role, with a vital responsibility of promoting the profile of the Coventry and Warwickshire region to businesses and people as a great place to invest, work, live, study and relax. As well as providing leadership to the Board, the role will involve significant engagement with political and business stakeholders to ensure that CWLEP can realise its ambitions.
CWLEP Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and is one of 38 LEPs (Local Enterprise Partnerships) in the country. LEPs are partnerships between the private and public sectors with the majority of the 20 CWLEP board Directors holding roles within the private sector. The company was established in 2012 and continues to be the instigator of major economic benefit to the region. Building on the core activities for economic strategy and influencing, CWLEP has recently added in-house delivery capability for Productivity and Skills, including a Careers and Enterprise Hub. Coventry & Warwickshire Champions Limited, underpinned by its Place Board, is a subsidiary company of CWLEP Ltd. In addition, the CWLEP Growth Hub Ltd subsidiary is also, in the wider West Midlands, the lead Hub for Brexit preparation and business awareness. The CWLEP group now extends to approximately 34 personnel and continues to expand.
Coventry and Warwickshire is recognised as a globally important hub in advanced manufacturing and engineering, with business and research links across the world.
CWLEP brings together: Warwickshire County Council, the Districts of; North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon, and Warwick; also, Coventry City Council, Coventry University, the University of Warwick, Further Education sector, and private sector representatives.
The purpose of the CWLEP is to help drive forward the local economy, stimulating growth and attracting investment, thereby improving prospects of the communities and people across the area.

The role of Chair is a key leadership role within the group; comprising the CWLEP Secretariat, with specific responsibility for leading the board and its functions of setting strategy and establishing sound governance; the CWLEP Growth Hub which assists local businesses by breaking down barriers to growth and providing business awareness and support to encourage local economic growth; and its subsidiary, Growth Hub Business Solutions Ltd which helps to deliver working solutions to assist local companies in their pursuit of business, and also Coventry & Warwickshire Champions Limited, which is the major promotor and advocate for doing business in and the promotion of the area.
Candidates will be excellent leaders, capable of building and sustaining effective relationships with private and public sector stakeholders, with demonstrable influencing experience, and will possess a well-developed network within the region of Coventry and Warwickshire. Ideally coupled with experience to navigate the political landscape understanding national, regional and local political drivers.
