Post Title

Policy Executive


Circa £50k (pro rata if part time)


Full Time but this may also be considered part time of at least 3 days per week and is a senior role and the post holder will be expected to work such hours that are necessary for the proper performance of their duties.

Office Location

Office based at The Old Clink, Warwick CV34 4SJ.  There will be an opportunity to combine this with working from our Coventry office.

Reporting Lines

This post reports to the Operations Director

No direct line management reports


Background to role: This opportunity comes at an exciting time for C&WLEP. The local economy is doing well with GVA growth above the national average over the last 5 years. The LEP is part-way through delivering a multitude of projects and schemes from the £340m+ of funding that has been won since its inception in 2011 and it also has a nationally recognized Growth Hub that is providing excellent support to businesses to help them prosper and grow. The area is performing well in attracting inward investment and has attracted several companies over the last 4 years. The emerging West Midlands Combined Authority will provide many more opportunities for the people and businesses that it encompasses and the LEP is playing a significant part in its development.


Main activities of the role

  • Member of the Executive Management Team;
  • Be passionate about Coventry and Warwickshire and committed to further driving forward the LEP’s ambitious agenda;
  • Help develop and implement the Local Council’s policy and strategy;
  • Work in collaboration with Local Authorities & Ministry of Housing, Local Government & Communities;
  • Support the CW LEP Operations Director with work involving West Midlands Combined Authority;
  • Involvement in Marketing, Communication & Other Projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with employees at all levels within the organization;
  • Liaise with relevant external stakeholders;
  • Responsible for overseeing content and quality of relevant papers to Committees and Council as required;
  • Develop and implement the Policy and Standards strategy;
  • Other tasks/roles as required by the organization.


Person Specification

The post holder will need to demonstrate the following:

  • GCSE level equivalent English and Maths
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Post graduate management or relevant professional/business qualification (desirable)
  • Clear strategic vision, excellent communication and leadership;
  • Strong personal authority and gravitas;
  • High business acumen;
  • In depth knowledge of policy environments or policy related roles;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managing and building relationships with stakeholders, including senior management, UK government departments and with strong influencing and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent written English, with proven ability to research and write accessible, clear policy documents and reports for a range of audiences;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of diplomacy and political awareness, and ability to work effectively as a member of the senior management team;
  • A familiarity with Coventry and Warwickshire.
