Routes to Ambition will work with young people aged 15- 24 (primarily 15-18) either disengaged, or risk of exclusion, or facing major barriers to employment due to factors such as their health and disability.
Work Related Learning Team - will offer learning programmes for young people identified as being in need of additional learning support due to being at risk of becoming NEET. Taster courses in a range of vocational areas will develop literacy and numeracy and personal skills. Staff will help to identify career pathways for those undecided.
The Employment Team (of Coventry City Council) has a specialist Employment Coach who can offer young people support towards employment, training or education (this would also include apprenticeships, traineeships and work placements).
Positive Youth Foundation - will equip young people with key life skills outside of a formal learning environment. The programme will have an emphasis on the following key areas of delivery:
Programmes of education and support
Community-based youth provision/positive learning activities during the evenings and weekends
Holiday provision across the year in areas identified as being ‘hot-spots’ of youth inactivity or negative activity.
Coventry & Warwickshire Training will deliver additional vocational learning to the cohort of young people. Subject areas will include hairdressing, children’s care, business, ICT as a work related learning package. This provision will ensure the young people we support continue their engagement in work focussed learning support.
The programme will ensure seamless referral routes into Ambition Coventry and other programmes once the young people become eligible and ready to move forward with their pathway into employment.
